Melton service never again! Took my 2000 grand Cherokee to Melton for “diagnosis” no start condition. Dropped it off Thursday. Friday morning I drove there to check on it. Tech is sitting in it with a handheld device and my Cherokee is running, while I’m talking to the tech he punches two inputs into handheld device and engine promptly dies...........says after lunch will have to take it inside shop to continue “diagnosis”. At this point I’m questioning their honesty, hell it ran until tech did his two inputs into his device. On restart it runs two seconds and dies. Was led to believe they could diagnose the problem ($99). I left town on a planned trip. Service calls and says “I think” the S.K.I.M. module is bad. I tell them “I think” is not a diagnosis, and I don’t want to just throw parts and labor at it. I get that there is no profit in a diagnosis, parts and labor is where it’s at. I ask what will it cost for S.K.I.M. module, bumps bill to ($351). Appears I’m not going to get a “diagnosis, in goes the S.K.I.M. module. Next call I get is that it still won’t start. I’m told “I think”.......here we go again, no “diagnosis” just another “I think”. I think it’s the PCM,no more parts, we’ll talk when I get back in town. PCM will push bill to ($752). Have a sit down with service dept. when I get back, that goes nowhere! Still trying to get a diagnosis out of them,but that will never happen. Feel I didn’t need the S.K.I.M. module since it still won’t start. At this point I feel I have no choice but to replace the PCM. I’m told the S.K.I.M. module was fried and the PCM bad too.......BOTH failed at the same time? BUT their tech had it running, the first day they had it..........feeling the dishonesty! Bill is ($752), didn’t charge for diagnosis. I ask for additional discount, told ok, 15%. Re write bill, first bill skim module is $175.00, second bill 15% discount but skim module is billed at $192.99. Both bills have $50 shop supplies, shop supplies on two electrical components?
I had the engine replaced in my 2005 Grand Cherokee HEMI back in April of 2017. When they put the engine in, they cut one of my AC hoses, and lengthened the wires to the evap purge solenoid for some reason, and in doing so, mistakenly connected the evap wires to the AC compressor and vice versa, frying my computer. They've consistently denied everything. I'm afraid to even take it back for the computer because I don't know what other "mistakes" they might make costing me more money. BOTTOM LINE: Don't take your vehicle here!! This place is a joke!
Diagnosis to me is you pin point the problem then fix it. Final bill $749..........no stars!
Best dealership I've been to. 4 oil changes for $120 plus one free. Buy three tires get one for $1.
I find it odd that a week after we purchased a vehicle with 22k miles on it that the engine light comes on and when cleared out it takes almost another week for the same alarm to kick on. When confronted about it they wouldn’t even take a look at it. The only other dealership I know that’s this shady is Roberts Auto Center. Definitely won’t be returning or referring anyone else to this awful dealer.
